Acupuncture for Period Pain & Endometriosis
DOES PERIOD PAIN DICTATE YOUR CALENDAR?
Period pain might be common, but it's not necessarily mean that it's "normal".
And it doesn't mean you simply have to put up with it.
cramping and back pain and headaches...
oh, my
For some people it's a day curled around a heat pack. For others it's pain relief on standby, cancelling plans, struggling through work, or checking the calendar before committing to anything.
Period pain can also come with pelvic or lower back pain, headaches, bloating, digestive changes, fatigue and changes in mood.
At Pack Health in Everton Hills, Brisbane, we offer acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine as an individualised approach to menstrual health and period pain.
WHEN YOUR PERIOD STARTS RUNNING THE CALENDAR
Maybe you're reaching for pain relief every month. Taking days off work. Cancelling plans. Sleeping with a heat pack. Or checking your calendar before agreeing to anything because you already know which few days are going to be rough.
For others, the pain has gradually become worse, periods have become heavier, or symptoms have changed altogether.
Whatever brought you here, we want to know what your cycle actually looks like. Because menstrual pain isn't the whole story.
CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP PERIOD PAIN?
Acupuncture is used in the management of menstrual and pelvic pain, and research has explored its use for primary dysmenorrhoea as well as pain associated with conditions such as endometriosis.
But treatment at Pack isn't based on a standard collection of “period points”. We'll ask about the pain itself, but we'll also look at your cycle as a whole: timing, flow, clotting, premenstrual symptoms, digestion, sleep, stress, energy and other changes occurring throughout the month.
This helps us understand the broader picture and tailor treatment accordingly.
WHAT ABOUT ENDOMETRIOSIS & ADENOMYOSIS?
Endometriosis and adenomyosis are medical conditions that require appropriate medical assessment and management.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine may be used alongside your existing healthcare to help manage symptoms such as menstrual and pelvic pain.
We're not here to replace your GP, gynaecologist or other healthcare providers. We're here to become another useful member of the team.
ACUPUNCTURE + CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
In Chinese Medicine, two people experiencing painful periods don't necessarily have the same underlying pattern.
That's why treatment can look very different from person to person.
Depending on your presentation, your practitioner may recommend acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, or a combination of both.
Herbal formulas are individually prescribed according to your symptoms and Chinese Medicine diagnosis, rather than using the same formula for everyone.
MEET SI HWAN JIN
Chinese Medicine Practitioner · Acupuncture + Chinese Herbal Medicine
Jin works with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine together, taking the time to understand not only the symptoms that brought you in, but the broader patterns surrounding them.
His approach is thoughtful, practical and grounded in traditional Chinese Medicine. He explains what he's seeing in plain language and tailors treatment to the person in front of him rather than relying on a standard protocol.
Jin consults at Pack Health in Everton Hills on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, with Chinese herbal medicine consultations also available via telehealth.
